@teknomunk@mangeurdenuage 20 gallons of POAST will ensure your lawn is as barran as the steppes of Mons Huygens. Cant be force to cut what does not exist.
@IAMAL_PHARIUS@teknomunk@mangeurdenuage where i used to live they'd cite you for having a barren field with nothing but a few sparse weeds or having too tall of a yard, you can't win, you are forced to go through the annoyance of dealing with lawn care, even tho lawn care is extremely gay, NEVER FORGIVE THE BRITISH FOR INVENTING THE CONCEPT OF A MANICURED LAWN
@mangeurdenuage@IAMAL_PHARIUS@Zealist You can be arrested for growing food in your front yard. There are probably crimes for having flowers make up your yard (for example defining them as "weeds").
There are so many crimes that it is impossible to comply. The only defence is trying to not stand out so the enforcers don't decide to look at you, and even that can be thwarted by the whim of a bureaucrat.
@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mangeurdenuage i aknowlege and agree, but most of hte time i'm just under the radar and doing my own thigns, so it's indistinguishable until it isn't
@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mangeurdenuage jsut tryin' to grow muh plants and propagate these succulents, apparently ILLEGALLY AND UNAUTHORIZED CUZ FUCK YOU IF YOU THINKY OU CAN PATENT A FUCKING PLANT YOU CRETONOUS FUCKS
I think that's the case for most people to be honest. The small handful that activel spit in the face of the behemoth are either insanely brave or insanely stupid, and possible both.
@Zealist@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS >OU CAN PATENT A FUCKING PLANT You can patent anything you want, proof with the dude who patented snowmen as an example.
@PurpCat@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mangeurdenuage well i just made a bunch of cuttings of this plant cu allhis stems looked like this , so i hope that i can get them to grow cut off all his stems except a couple that looked ok
I staked down some thyme branches and covered them with soil to get them to root. They've been looking pretty sad the last couple years and I'd like to dig up the spot they are at and get the grass rhizomes out from under them. Hopefully it works.
@mangeurdenuage@mrsaturday@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS i gto some zuccinis going, pumpkin vine, canteploup vines, watermelon vine, 3 varities of tomato beef steak, some kinda orange dude, and grape tomatoes, lunchbox orange peppers, red beauty bell peppers, green beans, spanish sweet onions, lisbon bunching onions (scallions), and two types of beets, i love hobbies.
@mrsaturday@IAMAL_PHARIUS@Zealist@teknomunk I'm currently working the my own garden and I was thinking "with the current ukraine war context, is it possible to meme back the idea of victory garden, but permaculture, back, so that npcs would stfu about "concerns" ?".
Watermelon volunteers sprouted in the last week and the asparagus seeds have also sprouted. I'm excited to save seed from the female plants for propagation and maybe some guerilla gardening.
@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mangeurdenuage@mrsaturday this is the first year i've evern been able to do a garden by myself, and i got ol grandpa here giving me tips and pointers being he's an old green thumb but with his lung condition he can't do it himself, so he's really happy for me to be doing it and taking an interest.
@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mangeurdenuage@mrsaturday my elevated planter don't got any weeds at all, i think in the future i'm keen on building buncha elevated planters instead of tilling a patch and segregating my veggies cuz segregation is based.
I've been running a garden with varying levels of success for about a decade now. Trying to keep weeds under control is my largest struggle and usually things get away from me mid spring to early summer, and this year is no exception. I think I've gotten more food from fruit trees than I have the garden.
@Zealist@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mrsaturday I've been doing it for 3~3 years now, but I changed what I remembered from when I was a kid with my grandparents and went full permaculture. I'm angry that I can't use my old garden, the soil turned so good now :akkosad2:
@mangeurdenuage@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mrsaturday i spose that is a thing to think about, but on the other hand, i got plenty of water, and i enjoy watering my garden it's part of the relaxing part of gardening for me.
@Zealist@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mrsaturday >just admiring the plants doing their best That's the best part when you do gardening correctly. The hardest part is done by the plants themselves.
@mangeurdenuage@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mrsaturday also next year i'm dropping some grapes in the ground :3 told my mom "maybe i'll become a vinter as a hobby, i don't even drink wine, but who knows maybe it'll be fun to make it"
@Zealist@teknomunk@IAMAL_PHARIUS@mangeurdenuage That depends really heavily on the soil. I have an agronomist uncle that tried that and it didn't go very well. The grapes themselves came in just fine, but the wine's flavor wasn't at all what he was hoping for.
