@jdp23 @Uwu We’re not doing “nothing”. We’re doing something. In fact, the devs who are doing something are trans.
You may want to read more dev discussions on this before jumping to conclusions.

Chris Trottier (atomicpoet@calckey.social)'s status on Tuesday, 30-May-2023 08:45:21 JST Chris Trottier @jdp23 @supakaity @Uwu There is no “announcement” on shared antennas and that doesn’t even exist right now. I put up a poll asking for an opinion, and that’s as far as the conversation goes.

Jon (jdp23@calckey.social)'s status on Tuesday, 30-May-2023 08:45:24 JST Jon @atomicpoet I'm not jumping to conclusions, I asked what if anything you're doing. I had seen @supakaity's initial post about searchability, interactivity, and quotability (in fact I think I even commented thanking her for it), but haven't seen any writeup about shared antennas. Do you have a link handy?

One more time. There’s no dev discussions that I know about regarding shared antennas. There’s just a poll that I put out asking for an opinion.
In terms of how search (and thus antennas) work, that’s an ongoing discussion with lots of feedback, and I’m looking forward to how that gets implemented.
That’s all I have to say further about this subject. -

Jon (jdp23@calckey.social)'s status on Tuesday, 30-May-2023 10:49:29 JST Jon @atomicpoet I see. So the dev discussions on shared antennas you suggested I read don't actually exist yet. 🤔
Anyhow, @supakaity@blahaj.zone's searchableBy proposal is a great foundation to build on and with the right defaults (and inferences from other fediverse software that doesn't yet support the tags) could lead to a very good consent-based system. That said, layering new functionality like sharing often introduces new harassment vectors. So especially since most fediverse software doesn't have basic anti-harassment protections like turning off replies on posts that have been discovered by harassers, I still think @Uwu's question about whether introducing shared antennas introduces risks is very a good one.
