Cis friend told me don't worry, lots of people support trans rights and won't let the Tories turn us into Florida
They meant it, but I can't help thinking "Okay when"

@goatsarah I suspect they'll support by being sad when it happens
@goatsarah I think you'll find that's all fine as long as we're not put in extermination camps

@grayface_ghost I don't think cis people understand what is happening here already. I don't know many that understand what being trans really is, that it isn't a choice we've made.
That aint really a criticism, I barely understand it and I am it! But I don't think we can rely on anyone, even the people that love and support us the most, truly understanding. And if they don't understand then they can't know just how much pain and even death is being inflicted on us already.
@madelainetaylor They really don't but many of them should. They're just not believing us when we tell them what the effect of this will be.
The person I'm thinking of here's in a position to know but thinks like the rest that I'm catastrophising rather than making realistic escape plans. I'm not throwing personal shade at them, I commented because I think you're right - they're not going to get it until half of us have emigrated and the rest are in jail or the ground
