     @Tweetfiction @faithisleaping I can imagine a discussion of "goals" being very relevant to me. I'm non-binary and do not want all the effects standard feminizing HRT would offer me. For example, breast growth would likely *also* give me dysphoria. So talking about things like that up front would let me and the doc plan ahead. I've been told top surgery is a lot easier when your breast tissue is less developed.

     @faithisleaping I mean, my doctor asked good questions, like if I was interested in surgery, was sure I didn't want more kids, etc. But other than that, yeah let's see what happens. 🤷♀️

     Yeah... I hate the "transition goals" question. My goal was "girl". That's about it. Sure, I could print out pictures of celebrities or something like that but it's not like you can really control the process. You take the hormones and see what your body does.

     I guess you could maybe talk surgery but I wasn't even close to ready for that conversation that quickly by any means.

     @faithisleaping @Tweetfiction and believe me, I understand that if I'd spent years knowing I could have the things I want for my body through a safe and effective medication, I'd be all like "doc, my goal is for you to give me the damn pills" too. I just see the question as appropriately inclusive of all the people who'd talk to that doctor and I saw some hating on the question's existence.

     @roadriverrail Yeah, I think those discussions are a lot more important and nuanced for non-binary folks. For a lot of trans girls, it's just "pump in the girl juice!" But, since the doctor can't know that, they need to ask and it's good that they do.

     @Tweetfiction @faithisleaping It's all good. I'm happy to admit I just read the phrase "I hate the 'transition goals' question" very literally. We're clearly all on side here and we're all basically strangers so miscues happen. Just wanted to advocate for why such a question would be welcome and valuable to me.

     I don't think we were hating on it as much as just saying it was hard to answer and a little bit personally irrelevant. These were just our experiences. Everybody is different, which of course why they ask.
