      @asahi95@mk.absturztau.be It appears to me that some people really like to overuse defederation.
      Like in this instance: There is not a single bad user, so no posts from the "problematic" instances will be relayed. So we are talking about preemptively cutting out parts of the network. Sure, you can do that but in the long run the fediverse will split into many small miniverses, which means, it no longer competes with big social media networks.

      @sigmasternchen

      Why is federating with someone grounds for a fediblock? If you are running a solo or family instance, that will only introduce another burden.

      If a user re-shared something from an instance that was blocked by other instances, they will not see that re-shared post.

      So, why should an instance be penalized just because they don't subscribe to some not-really-universal fediblock? They won't see those anyway even if re-shared, and that is a big “IF re-shared”.

      Anyone care to enlighten someone like me who's been in the fediverse since 2008?

      Oh, please don't tell me “by not blocking what everyone else blocked, it means you are supporting them”. Because everyone knows that is not true.
