   @NicolaElle @JaedaCalaway @Terra This is one of those things as someone who's not a good fit for HRT that I'm constantly self-conscious about. In some ways, I think I kinda might have a little luck on my side; "you're soft" and "you smell good" are common things partners who've been physically close to me say. But I worry that I "smell like a man" and nobody's telling me.

     @JaedaCalaway @Terra oh, my heavens, this. Men stink - in the most literal way. Occasionally post-HRT I would encounter something with my old scent - usually cycling gear or the like - and have to stop for a moment in shock and amazement.

     @Terra this has been an unexpected aspect of transition: realizing how bad men smell. I was wearing a pre transition t shirt last fall and I started to gag at the lingering scent of how I used to smell so I threw it away. It was affirming though that my scent had changed that much!

     @JaedaCalaway OMG, I am so sketched out about men giving me hugs now. It's like playing aroma roulette. Will I survive this, or will I need to try to take deep breaths while not gagging?

     @Terra so I have a male colleague who has been supportive of my transition. Last summer on a hot day on the quad he asked if he could give me a hug. I was like … ok … this is new… and he smelled so bad… that’s all I could think of. Maybe watching him jump in the bushes at least would’ve been more amusing.

     Dudes used to go out of their way to talk to me. No they are more "jump headfirst into the bushes to avoid talking to me." Estrogen just has so many unexpected benefits!
