“Americans confused as Filipino boyband tweets 'Hello Negros'.”

This is a prime example why people MUST check the following before feeling “offended”:

    1. language barrier
    2. cultural differences
    3. context / usage

No one culture, or country, is superior to another. You can force your sensibilities, or culture, on other people—especially not online and while you are in their country.

Related to the above, there was even a ‘movement’ to force Koreans to change their word 니가 (niga) (en: you) and 내가 (naega) (en: I/me) just because it sounded the same as “nigga”.

That is one culture forcing their own on another culture.

We don't know when these two Korean words entered the Korean language, but it is safe to assume it is centuries older than the English word that sounds similar.

Should people with the surname “Tae” change their names just because in Filipino, “tae” means feces or “shit”?

Or, should the Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans, force the Filipino people to delete the word “tae” because they are using it as their surname?

The answer in both is a resounding “no”.

      1. Cultural differences
      2. Different languages
      3. Context / usage

@youronlyone so true, many completely lose sight of any context and judge only from their own culture and values.
