Checked out #Calckey a bit again today and the #Accessibility is improving! You can see this by exploring posts. I provided a link at end. For instance, the buttons below posts are now labeled whereas before, they were not. Registration Edit fields have labels now when before, they did not. I’m told keyboard shortcuts are on the way. One major #Accessibility issue, and I can’t tell if this is baked into core or if instance admins need to enable it manually, but it is the constant presence of HCaptcha on registration forms. Not only is HCaptcha an insult to #Privacy but it isn’t even all that user-friendly to begin with. I don’t know if this is an easy toggle on or off, but the prevalence of it on so many registration forms is causing me to not want to register. I get it that you want to prevent spam registrations, but there’s got to be a better way. Because it uses #ActivityPub you can import posts and more from #Mastodon and still follow Mastodon folk. Check out a post at https://calckey.social/notes/9enayb8ht5

@philsherry@home.social @weirdwriter@tweesecake.social @smallcircles@social.coop we won't be implementing Turnstile due to CloudFlare being a predatory and bigoted company, but we will be supporting FriendlyCaptcha in the near future. https://friendlycaptcha.com/

@weirdwriter @smallcircles I read a long rant on here about this, just yesterday. Then someone suggested Turnstile as a replacement. I said they should file that as an issue with the Calckey team.

@seedy@tweesecake.social @talon@dragonscave.space Log an issue about it? I hadn’t heard about Turnstile until you mentioned it here, so it would be good to get that on their official Issues radar. https://codeberg.org/calckey/calckey/issues/new/choose (I’m not a Calckey developer, but I’m about to start trying to help fixing some accessibility issues if I can even get the thing running locally.)

@weirdwriter the #HCaptcha might be coming from use of #Cloudflare on the #Calckey instance, maybe.

Otherwise @mcaptcha is a #FOSS alternative to consider.

I will ping @realaravinth as I believe #Accessibility is a key feature. It isn't listed as such on the website.

@philsherry@home.social @weirdwriter@tweesecake.social @smallcircles@social.coop also from their website, they're fully GDPR, fully accessible, and fully automated, which seems like the perfect fit for something like Calckey.

@smallcircles@social.coop @NGIZero@mastodon.xyz @weirdwriter@tweesecake.social @philsherry@home.social I'll look into it further. Since it uses the same API as hCaptcha, if I find mCaptcha to be okay I might include it alongside FriendlyCaptcha and add deprecation notices for hCaptcha and reCaptcha.

Not blockchain based, but it uses a mechanism where it becomes increasingly more expensive to do automated actions. It is called PoW, as it works similarly.

But the intricate details are best eplained by the developer.

I dunno current status, but #mCaptcha is being considered for inclusion in #Forgejo and #Gitea and will then also be available in #Codeberg as the #captcha solution.

@kainoa @weirdwriter @smallcircles I’d love to get it running locally in Docker so I can help out with accessibility issues, but I can’t get past the migration stage. Any help appreciated, but I get that you’re probably super busy.

I am trying to get this running locally to see if I can help out with fixing any of the current accessibility issues, or raise new accessibility issues to fix. **Problem:** I cannot get past the migration stage. In the section titled “Docker for development” it says: ```sh cd dev/ docker-compose build docker-compose run --rm web pnpm run init docker-compose up -d ``` Should that start with this line so that there is actually a `docker-compose` file in the `dev` directory? ```sh cp dev/docker-compose.yml.example dev/docker-compose.yml ``` If I copy that file first, *then* I can run those `docker-compose` commands. Otherwise, I get nothing happening in there—because the `.example` file is unknown. I have copied `.config/example.env` to `.config/docker.env` and tried different values: ```sh # .config/docker.env POSTGRES_DB=calckey POSTGRES_PASSWORD=SecretPassword POSTGRES_USER=postgres ``` But each time I run `docker-compose run --rm web pnpm run init`, it fails at the same step: ```log docker-compose run --rm web pnpm run init [+] Running 16/2 ✔ db 8 layers [⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿] 0B/0B Pulled 16.5s ✔ redis 6 layers [⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿] 0B/0B Pulled 9.5s [+] Running 3/3 ✔ Network dev_network Created 0.2s ✔ Container calckey_db Created 2.3s ✔ Container calckey_redis Created 2.3s [+] Running 2/2 ✔ Container calckey_redis Started 3.0s ✔ Container calckey_db Started 3.0s > calckey@13.1.4.1 init /calckey > pnpm run migrate > calckey@13.1.4.1 migrate /calckey > pnpm --filter backend run migrate > backend@ migrate /calckey/packages/backend > typeorm migration:run -d ormconfig.js Error during migration run: error: password authentication failed for user "postgres" at Parser.parseErrorMessage (/calckey/node_modules/.pnpm/pg-protocol@1.5.0/node_modules/pg-protocol/dist/parser.js:287:98) at Parser.handlePacket (/calckey/node_modules/.pnpm/pg-protocol@1.5.0/node_modules/pg-protocol/dist/parser.js:126:29) at Parser.parse (/calckey/node_modules/.pnpm/pg-protocol@1.5.0/node_modules/pg-protocol/dist/parser.js:39:38) at Socket. But, that line remains ambiguous with regard to local development in Docker. So, my question is this: **What do I need to do to get PostgreSQL to connect during local development using Docker, and can someone amend the README to reflect that to make it a lot easier for people to help out?** Thanks.
