If you knew the economy was going to crash in the next couple of years and there'd be a correction of like 40-70%, doing what Musk did is not a terrible idea if your plan was to get a tax write off that will last you decades or something, idk just an idea I've had about this whole scheme 🤷 -

@ruario lol musk's "profit" that dim-witted sucker lit his money on fire buying that place, it will never be financially profitable for him and it's certainly not doing his reputation any favors either, everyone now knows he's a bumbling incompetent

@scalzi As an individual with many who follow, it is worth dropping it to
• Show viability of additional social options (such as mastodon), to all who follow you
• Diminish usablity on that platform and thus profit for Musk by shrinking total post count.

I'm not planning to leave Twitter at the moment, but I'd say in the last couple of weeks I've reached the point where if I was not on Twitter, I would not miss it all that much. Thanks to Mastodon and other services, what Twitter gives me as a user is replaceable. If that's true of me, it's true of others. That should scare Elon Musk a whole lot.
