I accidentally stood on an acorn, skate slipped out from under me, and I tore two ankle ligaments. No surgery, but 3 months of PT, and chronic tendinitis that flares up if I skate backwards too much. I'm praying that was my visit from the injury reaper.

SmittyHalibut (smitty@mastodon.halibut.com)'s status on Friday, 12-May-2023 00:12:39 JST SmittyHalibut @roadriverrail @vk2gpu I had a similar severe-pull-but-not-break situation on my ankle from a motorcycle almost-accident (didn’t actually go down, but did twist my foot around 180deg). Doc told me he almost wish it had broken; they have ways to fix breaks, but pulled tendons and ligaments just need to heal on their own, and never quite heal fully.
That was 15 years ago. It’s pretty much healed at this point. At least, it’s no longer the dominant problem. 🤣🥲😢😭

It hasn't been a real problem, but I do get a flare-up if I skate backwards too much. Did I mention I specialize at the ref position where you skate backwards almost exclusively?
