Why is it so hard for fedi devs to behave professionally when it comes to the gitlab or other official areas where they have to engage with other devs to work on code? Why does ego get in the way of professionalism?
Is it really that difficult to not be a dick, as the saying goes?

@lunarised I have no arguments to that. I do like philosophical posts, a bit hard to avoid with topics like this too.
My hope is that we can move beyond being a twitter knockoff. The fediverse has been in development for a very long time. We have good features here to be proud of. It is a shame that where there are people involved, drama inevitably follows. But this drama shall pass too, and we will have others to look forward to I suppose.

@sim
I think it's the worst part and the best part.
Love, Friendship and Family are the great joys most of us get to experience, which all require others
Hate, Death and Loss are the horrible things that we all experience, which also mostly require others.
Sorry for being so philosophical and wishy washy, but I think my take is, let's hope that our Twitter knockoff is better in 3 months than it is today

@lunarised Seems that way. The worst part is dealing with people, I have to admit.

@lunarised Yeah, it's a shame. It's a shame that love for the project and wanting to see it move forwards isn't enough to interact civilly with others to get that achieved. I understand there are people who won't get along, not all personalities mix well. But I don't think you need to be a dick in development spaces because of this. Just agree to have less contact where possible unless you need to work on something together. Then just keep it about the work itself.

@sim
I've seen this shit everywhere tbh. In any sizable open source project, there are people who don't get along, and when pay isn't an incentive to keep people civil, ugliness happens.
Seen it with some languages that were developing in the lisp sphere a few years back

@sim devs? I thought it was just one dev. I've never had problems with pleroma gang whatsoever.
