     if you want to do anything resembling programming or 'serious computing' on windows nowadays, every month you will end up installing yet another Thing that creates an Icon On Your Desktop which when clicked, opens up a terminal emulator you've never seen before, inside yet another brand new home directory you've never seen before. sometimes there will also be a package manager you've never seen before
