   @oisin It's the questionable decisions that they are making with the official mobile app that a lot of people are up in arms about.

   Whatever else is happening with the instance, I am not sure about.

     I feel a great disturbance in the fediverse, as if all the people I follow are moving the hell away from mastodon.social.

     @detachedspork @oisin You're right with that. There has been many suggestions about how it _could_ be done.

     * Rotate the default instance that people can sign up on with a list of X amount of servers or geo-based detection where it'll show you mastodon.ie for Ireland.

     * Defederate from .social - There has been talks of this happening with certain instances already.

     While I get .social and the team is trying to make it easier to onboard, it seems a bit short sighted.
