     Are you reading it as "use, copy, modify, publish, and (display it on Mozilla.social)" rather than "(use, copy, modify, publish, and display it) on Mozilla.social"?

     @clacke @hfaust I guess let me be clear, being "hateful" is a fully protected right, I don't care if they don't allow it on their server, but if they make a proclamation that they disagree with the expansive definition we've developed in the USA, they don't really belong here.

     @Moon @hfaust I think the tone of the thread start is "omg they're fascists" and my view is "eh, they're just aiming to run a non-disastrous server that they can moderate while being consistent with their own terms of service" and maybe there isn't so much more to be said about that than just declaring our already well known tints of glasses.

     @clacke @hfaust I think their statement was in addition to a policy for their server a position on American speech rights. Again they can do whatever they want with their server it's a private service but if they say they'd strip me of rights if they could then I got upset. I should not have gotten upset but I still believe that's what they said and meant.

     @animeirl @hfaust Why would any software project run a forum? It's different, but the drivers are similar.

     They could have put up a server only for official Mozilla accounts, but I guess the above means they decided to invite the public and then they took the steps necessary to not get any embarrassing headlines about who they're hosting.

     Or maybe they're adding Fedi to Thunderbird or something and want a default server they don't mind being associated with.

     @clacke @hfaust I have no intention of allowing harassment of them or their users fwiw. They'll probably block us right away which is their right and honestly it sounds like our communities wouldn't mesh anyway so it's for the best. That's not a concern at all for me.

     @Moon @clacke @hfaust I don't get the Big Tech obsession over wanting to Europeanize (read: eliminate) Americans' rights. I honest to God wonder how much they actually believe this and how much they're acting on behalf of others.
     
     Either way an official Mozilla instance is a very negative development given how they've expressed their opinion of our side of the divide in the past.
