   So I just learned that people on #Bluesky are calling their toots "skeets", and you guys thought "toot" was an uncomfortable word?

     "toot" is also slang for drugs (cocaine, weed depending on the region) and it's also another word for "slut" to some people too

     @feld @JordiGH am aware of the regionalisms of that slang also!

     And that our non-English-native developer was somewhat duped into using it as a neophyte dev working on what was then a niche passion project. And that it's being changed in the software.

     Not sure I'd extend the same grace to a VC-backed Dorsey project where everyone involved is likely fluent in North American English dialects, even if "skeet" in the AAVE sense isn't something white dudebros would immediately think of.
