Companies like ProtonMail are not your friend.
You don't need to boost them.
I thought we didn't want ads here?-

The greater Fediverse does need to come to some sort of consensus on acceptable ads and how to handle them... But personally I don't at all mind having corporate presences here for customer interaction. I don't even mind a company touting their products/services on their own timeline, or people sharing those posts organically. But I definitely am opposed to paid ad placements.I think it's fine if someone I follow really likes a product or service and wants to share info from them - word-of-mouth advertising, in essence - I just don't want companies to be able to pay to shove crap in my face like they can on Twitter.

I primarily follow friends (and their friends) - not influencers. If someone I follow were to become a regular paid shill for random things, I most probably wouldn't be following them anymore.
