Instagram, Imgur, and Tumblr all have one thing in common:
They ban porn and nipples because advertisers don't want to be associated.
Luckily @pixelfed and other platforms embrace freedom and choice.

@philsherry @pixelfed This is a common misconception with NSFW content, they don't allow outright porn apps but you are allowed to have NSFW content if it's not displayed by default.
@dansup @pixelfed Won’t Apple take issue with allowing it into the App Store at some point for the same reasons?
@z428 @pixelfed They blocked the NSFW content due to Ads, you're allowed to display NSFW content if it's hidden by default.
"If your app includes user-generated content from a web-based service, it may display incidental mature “NSFW” content, provided that the content is hidden by default and only displayed when the user turns it on via your website."
@dansup @pixelfed Ahh, thought were just flat-out Nanny State with this stuff.
@dansup @dansup Tumblr allows nudity as long as it is behind a Community Label to satisfy the hidden by default requirements you linked. https://help.tumblr.com/hc/en-us/articles/5436241401239-Community-Labels
However, 1.1.4 is one reason why you see effectively no porn apps on the App Store:
Overtly sexual or pornographic material, defined as "explicit descriptions or displays of sexual organs or activities intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings."
