Two hours of electrolysis on my neck and I'm finally home and shaved all the extraneous hair off. Starting to feel me again. I'm also trying on my new earrings! And then my partner called me a pretty girl :blobmeltsoblove:

Neck is a little irritated still.

@e_er1n I see from the alt text that you're doing a mix of laser and electrolysis?

@e_er1n you kinda answered the question behind the question. I was planning on laser for bulk hair removal and electrolysis to mop up the rest and was unsure if that was a good strategy

@roadriverrail facial hair started to go grey around like 30 so I didn't have much chance to avoid having to do some electrolysis.

@e_er1n I'm non-binary and not pursuing HRT, so I'm guessing I'd never get enough of a diagnosis for Kaiser to pick up the bill, so insurance isn't really a variable. Just trying to suss out of to get the hair below my eyebrows to go away or become such a minor issue that the occasional shave will do and I won't have to look at stubble.

@roadriverrail oh well yeah the other reason why not to is cost, probably a good idea to check into that also.

A good electrolysis place will probably also be able to deal with hair removal required as prep for some bottom surgeries and can probably do laser also.

@roadriverrail only reason why not to is if your insurance covers one vs. the other perhaps, but laser helped remove the bulk of it really quickly, well a bunch of it anyways. But also it helped get rid of the shadow and that helped SO MUCH.

It's annoying how slow electrolysis is but it's the only way to take care of the white/grey hair remaining.

You can do both at the same time if you have a good electrolysis tech. Start laser first, probably a few sessions to get the bulk of the dark hair tamed down and then it shouldn't be difficult for an electrolysis tech to only target the white hairs.

@taedryn @e_er1n yeah, I've got some grays, but I was figuring I'd start with laser and just get as much covered as possible.

@roadriverrail @e_er1n I did laser first, getting started on electro soon. Laser is typically *much* more cost effective if you've got dark hair to knock out, even if it's not a ton. Electro typically costs much more per unit area of skin treated, but of course it depends on the exact providers, and insurance coverage.

Laser also hurts less, and a 1 hour session covers my whole front-of-torso and face. But it doesn't touch the white hairs, and I still have a *lot* of those.
