@jeremy @pfefferle No, those comments existed long before, since the creation of the site (imported from a Google+ forum I managed when it died !!!!). Been using 2020 theme for quite sometime. Webmention was added a long time ago too, when I installed ActivityPub and so on... Today, when playing with Jetpack "code" module, I "coincidentally" saw that comments had disappeared. As I had the other problems, I removed all plugins, but comments didn't came back. After a few tests => Webmention

@cybeardjm @jeremy uff! At least not totally gone ?? we do a lot of filtering and have some issues with FSE themes, because they seem to ignore our filters and hide some comments when „separation of comment types“ (I am not sure about the correct wording) is enabled. We changed some handlings of webmentions in version 5.0. I will check if we have issues with empty comment types. Good point @jeremy !!

@pfefferle @jeremy non, no, just not showing, only the form to post new ones appear, not the old comments. After removing Webmention (tried to disable/enable, modify options and save... purged cache each time), they reappeared.
When switching to 2023, with Webmention, they were there...This is on my AMF site. On WWW, with same theme and almost same config, they didn't disappear, BUT "coincidentally" I didn't "play" with Jetpack core...

@cybeardjm @jeremy maybe one thing: can you check if the comment type of the missing comments might be empty?

@pfefferle @jeremy Checked in the database, all old imported comments have indeed a "comment" comment-type.
