Yeah, I think #ElonMusk is trying to mimic #WeChat, which explains the name change. WeChat is a super app (aka everything app) in #China ??, but market dominance of that scale is nearly impossible nowadays.

      from Amanda Silberling
Twitter owner Elon Musk has aspired to build what he calls "X, the everything app." Now, Twitter's parent company will be named just that.

@darnell WeChat, yes Musk would want to follow it. And I agree with you about it's impossible to grow giant service like WeChat.

@taiyo Yeah, I think #WeChat is a once in a lifetime type company. There is too much competition & government oversight to allow for something similar in another country.

Also, I think #ElonMusk should give up call his super app “X” as it’s not exactly consumer friendly (geek friendly, yes! ?).

@fgbjr @darnell The point of the past would be correct. Elon Musk, who has always liked to solve problems with money, brought Windows for PayPal was subsequently ousted. While Musk may hold a grudge, for the co-founders who had doubts about his technical abilities even before he started building, Musk's shopping were nothing but betrayal.

@darnell @taiyo The X name is what makes me think this entire mid-life fiasco is borne of smouldering resentment over a put-down by some fellow future billionaire back when his work on "X" in the pre-PayPal days was shoved aside. The guy holds himself out as being all about the future, but if my intuition is right, he's all about the past—and only his own little past, at that.
