@ammdias @lindamciver Traditionally it’s because of the Christian religious connotations of Sunday; e.g. in many Slavic languages it’s literally called “after Sunday”.
These countries though recognize Monday as the first day of the week, regardless of the etymology of day names.
@thomasfuchs, in Portuguese the week days are numeral based from Monday ("segunda-feira", which literally means "second fair") to Friday ("sexta-feira", "sixth fair"). So, Sunday ("domingo") must be the first day of the week and Saturday ("sábado"), the last.
