    Releasing #FediWax ?

Make #fediverse threads easier to read!

    https://fediwax.yarmo.eu/

    Example: https://fediwax.yarmo.eu/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ffosstodon.org%2F%40yarmo%2F108601702172431805

Needed a small break from the usual work so decided to make a small side project today — learned a fair bit of typescript in the process.

My fediverse usage has greatly diminished due the sheer numbers of replies making interesting conversations difficult to read. Hopefully this helps a bit with this ?

Made for desktop, works pretty well on phone

    Enjoy! #foss

@yarmo I can't help but notice you called it "FediWax" but your source points to Mastodon only :(. I don't mean to be that guy, but "Why not ActivityPub?" so it's not Mastodon-only?

@yarmo Makes sense! I'm just pretty sensitive about Mastodon being used interchangeably with Fediverse, leading Mastodon to become the defacto point of control over everything. Totally fine to make tradeoffs, but it's good to have the conversations around the greater Fediverse.

@gabek thanks for being that guy :)

It's a proof of concept built in a couple of hours. No, it's not feature complete and I hope that's not what you were expecting :) I'm a decent dev but not thaaat good…

To try the concept out, I use the mastodon API (which I think multiple others implement as well). Using the ActivityPub API I won't be able to load threads from "secured" instances

      Pros and cons :)

Plenty of problems to solve and things to consider from this point on

@gabek if you look at the code, fetchers are modular. Mastodon (API! Not the software) is one fetcher I could quickly implement.

Obviously, I am not going to make a Mastodon-only tool ?
