Is there a KVM switch that can do TB3/4 USB-C, DP and HDMI?

Jeff Clatworthy (jeffcgd@aus.social)'s status on Wednesday, 22-Mar-2023 22:10:15 JST Jeff Clatworthy @thomasfuchs I don’t know if that’s even possible, as the Thunderbolt device would almost certainly have to reallocate the entire connection stack/chain on switching, and this could/would vary depending on the parent device power supply, amongst a bunch of potential issues.

I'd use a mouse/keyboard "sharing over the network" app, but that's no good for gaming.

Christina Warren (film_girl@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 23-Mar-2023 04:07:23 JST Christina Warren @thomasfuchs the short answer is, “it’s complicated” — there are a few TB3 KVMs out there but they have to have custom firmware and such nonsense. I have a Caldigit dock and then I got a thing from Amazon that makes it easier for me to use the same studio display with multiple machines but it’s still janky. Let me find my Twitter archives on this.

And it has a DP port and HDMI on it. Trying to find the USB-C switcher thing I got last year

I use this one and it’s been rock solid for me, but there are some cheaper options on Amazon. https://a.co/d/58NoOqm
