I like to test my theories by throwing out statements and seeing if anyone argues with them.
From my understanding the gossip model is about finding posts at their origin. The current Nostr model is manual relay management. With the gossip model users don’t have to think so hard about relays. On the Fediverse people don’t have to think about it either, because it “just works”. The place to find the post is encoded in the post itself.
There’s some arcane knowledge in the Fediverse that Nostriches shouldn’t ignore.
On the Fediverse, the server URL is not optional. On Nostr it is, leading to relay centralization. Gossip wants the relay URL to be there. Maybe it shouldn’t even be optional? Then things will work so much better… like they do on the Fediverse. And I completely agree with it.
Ok I looked into the event, looked at the page at gleasonator.com, and I'm going with the working hypothesis that your Alex Gleason.
So I have many questions. First, if the place to find a post is encoded in the post, 2 things immediately spring to mind: (1) that's a catch-22, I don't know where to find it, I can't find it to find out where to find it, and (2) what if that place decides to delete that post?
Second (for now I'll leave it at this) when you talk of arcane knowledge, are you referring to some technical knowledge, or contents of posts that could be accessed via a bridge?
