   I hate TikTok, but the main problem with banning it is that we’d have to bully American companies into doing it. There’s no way to enforce it on TikTok itself.

     @matty If we had a Great Firewall of America we could do it pretty easy, ironically by emulating China’s authoritarian behavior. But then I’m not sure nicecrew.digital would be allowed to exist either.

     @matty I would mostly support a bill that simply said “fuck you TikTok, go away!” and was not practically enforceable.

     What politicians are actually trying to do is create infra to control the internet, and justifying it behind a sympathetic cause.

     I see you haven't run into import law before. it may not be reliably enforceable at a 100% compliance rate but it is most definitely enforceable in the broad sense
