     The thing that's funnier about all this is that a lot of the justifications continue to make zero sense. Online-only fedi-related events aren't a new thing, and the sum total of the expenses is usually a few quid thrown at a VPS (e.g. fediplace or fediblock), it's never been so much that it's really made much sense to ask for contributions, and nor does anyone really care much about branding
