Could anybody suggest provider for the hosted #Matrix with all bridges for a family (<10 users)? It seems @matrix (#element.io) seems to provide smallest installation of 50 people and I am not willing to shell out $3000/year for my family account.
@gbraad@matrix Right, so apparently €81/year per hosted #Matrix server on ossrox.org with unknown (probably none) bridges is probably the best I can hope for. Otherwise, 60+ CHF/month. Lovely. So, self-hosting seems to be the only viable option.
At the moment relying on a #jabber/XMPP solution and fallback to Nextcloud talk for minor things. This last one is NOT an endorsement, as it does not do federation and us very very very bare in it's approach, but works for reminders.
@gbraad@matrix yes, I liked XMPP a lot (I have even a patch in ejabberd), but the harsh reality is that the bridges to WhatsApp, IRC, Slack, and possibly Telegram are necessity (and I would like also Facebook Messenger and Mastodon), and they do not work for Jabber.
