   my grand nephew, who I did not know, died of a heart attack at age 34a few days. That is the second child of his generation in that family (My sister had six kids) who died young. Both boys, both probably as a result of drug/alcohol abuse and mental illness. Bipolar runs in my family. There's a lot of self medicating going on, I think.

     @OldAndCranky undiagnosed mental illness destroys more families and kills more people then I think anyone knows.

     I know it's the reason I don't talk to my family. Too much unresolved toxic behavior.

     @Mrfunkedude Indeed. I have a lot of bitterness about my own family of origin's response to my bouts with mental illness. I'm still not quite over the anger and I'm older than dirt.
