   Hey everyone! A Chudbud I know is in need of potentially life-saving (and definitely life-improving) medical equipment: a CPAP machine to help with sleep apnea issues. They do not have health insurance to cover the machine, so it must be bought out-of-pocket.
   
   I've set the goal at $1200, to cover the cost of the machine, taxes, shipping, and any other associated accessories that go with the machine. All funds collected will go to the Chudbud in need. If you can help out at all, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

     Is this a "I'm fat and lazy so I need help breathing" thing, or a "I have legitimate medical issues that doesn't include eating way too much food and need help" thing?

     central obesity almost always causes sleep apnea
     
     BUT
     
     getting adequate, quality sleep is essential to any sort of weight loss effort, you're not going to have the willpower to stick to any sort of exercise or diet if you're living in a fog
     
     also long-term chronic sleep deprivation is just as bad for hardening of the arteries as high cholesterol

     it's a long shot but boomers will usually part with these at estate sales and garage sales, if you get a ResMed unit like the one in your attached pic, you can google how to toggle Clinician Mode to get in and set the pressure and other settings

     I know professional runners who require one. Obesity can cause or exacerbate it but apnea can be caused from multiple things. Untreated it can be a massive mental and physical hindrance to losing weight. It’s also just plain deadly long term.
