     I think they work well as console tables, and I’ve seen some really amazing live edge dining tables too. But it definitely depends on how your place is decorated.

     I'm personally not a huge fan of them, especially for desks, but they can nice as a kitchen counter.

     Oh yeah I forgot about dining tables. Those would definitely look good with a live edge in the right dining room.
     
     This reminds me that I need to make a console table for my sister's new place soon.
