   Found something I wrote in 2009, when Yahoo shut down Geocities:

   "It’s funny: the things we expect to disappear from the web often don’t, but the things we expect to be permanent often do drop out of existence. GeoCities appeared 14 years ago. Will today’s blogs, Facebook pages, forums, and wikis still be around 14 years from now?"

     @KelsonV Oh, I know. I periodically go through posts in my #blog, especially the old ones, make sure the links that are dead are in #WaybackMachine, and search for others in Wayback, and mourn the loss of still others, some of which were real treasures. Much (but not all) of my #GeoCities site has been captured by #Wayback; there's a link to it in my #neocities page. I'm glad I renamed index.html to schmindex.html in my GeoCities, or probably a lot more files would have been lost.
