    @colinsmatt11
    Layering abstraction is really the power of Lisp.

    I happened to watch a video on a similar topic when you wrote this.

      Why Do Those Weird Lisp Programmers Always Talk About How Awesome Lisp Is?
      Edited version of a lecture given by Harold Abelson at MIT in 1986. full version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QgZVYI3tDs As someone who is interested in Lisp I found this part of the lecture particularly illuminating on why Lisp is a little different than the C++ I had learned in school. More often than not getting to understand a languages strong points takes more time than we can afford. It is not often that programmers are given short succinct explanations that don't require several workweeks of reading, viewing and listening to material about the languages that they might try. Mr. Ableson in this passage manages to cover the basics of Lisp, and why a person would want to use it all in under a half hour. It really is amazing, and we web slingers are lucky to have the opportunity to watch it. It would have been an honor to meet him or even be in his class.

      The UNIX shell is just a worse LISP.
      alias nya="mpv $(ls $(cat flist) | grep cat | shuf)"
      My love for $() really foreshadowed the lisper arc.

        An Intuition for Lisp Syntax
        from Stepan Parunashvili
        Every lisp hacker I ever met, myself included, thought that all those brackets in Lisp were off-putting and weird. At first, of course. Soon after we all came to the same epiphany: lisp’s power lie...
