   @negative12dollarbill that kind of thing always rubbed me the wrong way. It's basically saying that your contribution was worth $45 but we're not just going to give you that amount because people will think we're cheap. Instead we'll buy you something generic and make a big deal about it to increase the perceived value.

   Just fucking give them the money and shut up.

     It's nice to be appreciated, but I really want my employer to stop celebrating everything with alcohol and giving gifts of alcohol to employees and clients.
