Without a space reserved? That's so weird, we have never successfully reproduced your reports. We have to find how to do that.

@apps I'm having odd behavior with the new media layout and sizing changes. On the same message, sometimes the image previews will be about half the width of the screen and centered, and sometimes they use the full width. It keeps switching back and forth, which causes the timeline to jump up and down.

A space in messages dedicated to media that should avoid jumps. But whatever, jumps you noticed don't seem to be related to media but something else. A video would help.

I like how it looks visually with the new image aspect ratio!
But everything is S.L.O.W. The interface stutters while scrolling, and it won't go fast. Audi, I'm seeing a lot more image placeholders where they haven't loaded yet.

@apps I just had another case, simpler this time. With this message: https://mastodon.social/@chockenberry/109870554429918718 - as soon as I favorited the message, its two smaller, centered images expanded to full width, and the timeline jumped to compensate.

Yes, the goal is to understand what's at the origin. I don't think it's a specific kind of messages but mostly like the first message seen having some elements after starting the app.

@apps I don't know how - it only seems to happen the first time I see a message. I cleared my cache, restarted, and went back to that message, but the images were already full width. I guess I have to start screen-recording every interaction with Fedilab.

@apps I'll disable previews for a while. I assume that will fix it because there's nothing to load in after the fact. (I'll miss them; I like the feature.) I do use fit previews because I don't like the cropping. :(

Confirmed: performance instantly improves when I kill the app and relaunch, then degrades the more I use it.

It seems to be that when I first open the app, performance is good.
But then as I scroll through my various timelines, it gets progressively slower, and even the frame rate of scrolling through my timeline columns at the top is slow.
