@grumbulon me neither. It only happened on trying to use mintty with it. I think it might be off by default but the mintty invocation loads some default rc file that looks like it sets it on by default. I was sitting there moving around and PING PING PING PING PING

@grumbulon cmder with bash can't handle scrolling on moderately sized files for some reason. Whole view becomes corrupted and garbled. Trying to see if this one does any better.

@RustyCrab windows FS is accessable from inside WSL, the path is fucked but creating a symlink is ezpz; idk about msbuildtools no experience there but its (over simplified) just a little container running inside windows and they can talk to eachother

@grumbulon unless I can mount my windows files on wsl and seamlessly swap between it and windows, not really. I assume in would not be able to run msbuild commands from wsl either.

Ive just heard mixed things about wsl in general.

@grumbulon I'm gonna have to mess with wsl someday just out of interest but if I can't run windows executables directly from it then its unfortunately not going to work for my case.

@grumbulon that is very interesting and I will need to check it out, but I'd really rather see if I can get a simple native solution going before resorting to what is essentially running a virtual machine to type text into

@grumbulon i literally do not understand why windows can't just have a decent terminal. They released a revamped one for windows 11 and it's still garbage.

@grumbulon you know what ACKTSUALLY one use case I could actually use wsl for is full featured vim including stuff like youcompleteme. The last time I tried to make that work on windows it was just a cascade of never ending errors.

@RustyCrab they added open ssh support to windows and native bash commands aliased to windows PowerShell commands recentlyish but it's selective and you gotta fuck with it, not enabled by default

@grumbulon actually I did notice that on default terminal that some linux commands just worked out of the box.

I really wish MS would just adopt bash scripts at this point. Batch script is the worst language ever to be input into a computer. I don't even attempt to use it most of the time.
