     @Begamit Bands ONLY book thru Facebook??? Like, they wont take your money otherwise? Or is it the ONLY way to contact them?

     I guess I don't understand WHY Facebook is the only way they contact you. Doesn't the venue have a website with an email??

     Not throwing shade, just wondering how it works?

     @Begamit @Mrfunkedude I'm sure it will change. It wasn't that long ago that bands and bookers had to be on MySpace, even long after MySpace lost the first Social Media war. For content creation/business I still think its best to have your own website (Wordpress is probably even better now that they have built in ActivityPub support) and use other methods to direct folks back to your website, rather than creating content for others to consume on someone else's website.

     @Mrfunkedude i don't book just for the venue i work at. i also book independantly (bands i want to bring). i don't get contacted via facebook, most contact is via instagram. why? i have no idea. but, that's what i have to work with.

     @Begamit Well that sucks. Seems like it puts both the bands and the venue's in a bad position. What would happen if Instagram shut down tomorrow? There should always be a back up for if a service goes down.

     @Begamit That's what booking managers were for. They would call the venues and try to negotiate to have their bands play. I guess they don't do that anymore?

     @Mrfunkedude yea, i don;'t know how it would work. like, how did booking go 25 years ago before social media. all i know is that's what i have to work with in the 2020's.

     @Mrfunkedude right. but how did booking managers find venues in cities they don't know (back in the day)? some booking managers know about the venue i work at so, sure, they do contact us directly, but not all bands have managers. some have to DIY.
