@atomicpoet I have built up on #Mastodon less then half the followers I had #Twitter, but I enjoy ten times the engagement — and is all civil. Plus, I can edit my typos!
The quality of the social networking experience here is so much higher. And no one calls me a “groomer” or “pedophile” because I don’t support Trump or fascism.
I just wish we could convince more public institutions, government agencies, and elected officials to post here.
Also, a loss of the Blue Check also means the relevancy algorithm will no longer privilege their tweets.
It might mean a marked drop in engagement.
If people are staying on Twitter because joining another social network means losing their social status, what will happen if Twitter removes their social status?
Even if they opt to pay for a Blue Check, it's still a loss in social status.
When Twitter finally gets rid of "legacy" Blue Checks, I suspect there will be another exodus to the Fediverse.
