   @edumerco mint looks nice. On my next install I will plan some to investigate and not just stick with Ubuntu.

     I never did distro hopping and stabilized on Debian a long time ago so, completely understood (even if it was a fun time tasting a few candy). ;P

     If Ubuntu is your choice and you want a productive machine ASAP, I've heard good things on that front about Linux Mint, and it's community is not small.

     Don't know about using it for coding, though...

     @edumerco yeah, I tried different linuxes in the past.

     But now my objective was a quick switch to a new modern laptop and get to work again, not spend time in the candy shop tasting flavours ?

     Also I had bad experience with driver support and subsequently troubleshooting in much smaller online communities.

     Why must it be Ubuntu? Other great distributions may not have that issue... (I use Debian, but there are many great Linuxes in the wild). :blobaww:

     With a new development laptop, a HP Spectre, replacing my old one from 2013, also a Spectre, I am very sad to see that #Linux doesn't support the drivers. I got video isses, with a screen that constantly slightly flickers in brightness.

     It may be this bug, or a variant of it: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1958191

     Thus far the proposed workaround do not fix the issue ?

     That dream, where you give Windows the boot, install Linux and are productive in a sec.. a dream ? ?
