EVERYONE SPOKE PIDGIN IN HAWAII when I lived there. I'm fluent. All my friends insist on my doing it as their fave parlor trick.
But even I think that speaking only pidgin is a sign of ignorance.
Everyone should be code switching.
If you only only pidgin then you're really unhireable.
My haole mum's orders: "outside, you speak pidgin to fit in with Hawaii but in the house, it's proper English."

  Well, I suppose there's truth to that but you can also argue "there are not indigenous anything except those who are living at and have direct ancestry to the 'cradle of humankind'" or whatever, right?
  
  "Native Hawaiians" are not really indigenous in that same sense I guess but I'm pretty sure they identify that way? Cc @SlicerDicer

  @chris @NailBomb @jeffcliff it is not disproven, there is Polynesian DNA. Heyerdahl in fact proved it was possible to travel from Polynesia to south America using traditional Polynesian boat design and navigation. Doesn't prove it happened. But scientists said it was impossible and he proved it was possible.

  Has there ever been any culture in the history of lands or cultures that has ever not been invaded or conquered willfully by another—or tried? Nobody's ever said, "let's check to see if anyone lives here first" unless that culture had superior numbers, technology, or weapons. All races, all species, all cultures, all faiths, and even revolts, protests, defiances are attempts to reconquer or expel the invaders—be it through violence or policy or law.
