     @andrea Diaspora? Well kinda, but also no, there's definitely some he/she pronouns going on there, unless I'm mistaken.

     Likewise Permutation City, and Orthogonal, while distinctly weird and non-human, still has gender, I believe.

     @whvholst @andrea You mean the Ancillary books? Sure, some characters have a relatively undefined gender, but it's definitely a thing, and gets commented on constantly.

     @pettter @andrea I think some of Ann Leckie's books really leave some characters' gender identity completely unclear. Which would make the christian ayatollahs go ballistic anyway.

     @whvholst @andrea Also it's definitely the case that _some_ characters absolutely have a very definite gender identity.

     @pettter @andrea My memories are hazy, I think the first book of that series carries the haziness until pretty much the end. But you are probably right.
