okay so here's a little known secret about me... I have a degree. I have an Associates of Arts with a 2.01 GPA.
I am considering doing a little trolling (a lot of trolling) and this requires a 4-yr degree. Problem: I want to do it online, and I have the worst possible GPA.
Are any of you pros at the collegiate system and know any good memes to get a 4-yr degree? It doesn't matter what it is. I'm considering a B.A. in Chinese studies if available.

@Kheapathic For online courses, it's often a choice between Business, Nursing, IT, and Teaching.
I could just do IT. Especially based off what you're saying, I could maybe even test out and get a B.S. instantly.

@josh Not sure if they offer one in Chinese studies; but unironically WGU (Western Governor's University) is all online and flat quarterly price, but also a work at your own pace. So the faster you go, the less you have to pay.

@Kheapathic I'm not, I'm genuinely considering an ebin troll that requires a college education.
This uni looks promising. They have a cybersecurity course that is done in 27 months. If they accept my credits that should probably halve that number. I might even learn something.

@josh If you're planning to be an ESL Dancing Monkey (no shame, I did it); for most places all you really need is a Bachelor's. The EU/Shengen has a requirement that you need to already be there and not replacing a qualified Euro. Places like Saudi Arabia, actual Universities, and Global Schools usually require a CELTA Cert on top of the degree.
If you're not eyeing this direction, feel free to call me a retard.

@2Pure4Purell @Kheapathic Thomas Edison in NJ has a course on cybersecurity too. There's also a BS in "Homeland Security and Emergency Response" which sounds fucking weird.
I'm really split on "something I probably know 90% of", "something I might not know and would be interested in", and "a meme" like Homeland Security or Childhood Education (in case I ever want to hide in China and teach Engrish).

@Kheapathic @josh True, but that logic only works if you are trying to get a nothing job or something; if I were trolling, I would want something that no one could question, which means either a) it is from a state university or b) a well-known and respected private university. It doesn't have to be Harvard, but it should be one that existed prior to the start of the internet. I always believed that if you just wanted a degree, there was nothing wrong with a state school. If you wanted something in particular, then a private school should be more your jam.

@2Pure4Purell @josh Having dealt with a number of types who think their attending of UCLA, UCI, UC Davis, or UC Berkeley means they're special; they hate nothing more than being compared to someone they see as lesser. So the Liz Fong Jones's and such, who went to school and all that other shit; simply having a piece of paper that put's Jersh on the same level as them is enough to make them seethe.

@Kheapathic @josh I don't disagree with you at all, and I agree those "elitists" are worse than redditors, however it's more the gray zone the WSU sits in that bothers me. If Dear Leader Jersh went to say Thomas Edison University, which is also 100% online there would be no way to question it as it a public university from the state of NJ. I unironically looked into this school, WSU and others because I want to get a meme degree and fast using the credits I already have from my academic career and work experience.

@josh @Kheapathic WGU is in a weird zone where some consider it a real university, and some consider it the same as the University of Phoenix. Please bear that in mind if you want to do some trolling. There is nothing wrong with a basic state school or a more "established" institution.

@2Pure4Purell @josh It's a weird zone; but most organizations don't care where you got your piece of paper from, they treat it as a box to check. The only reason you go to a higher school is for networking and trying to get into a snooty club. Those are also the kind of people who think having a degree means they're something special, and not that they met the bare minimum per the state requirement for bestowing a degree.

@josh @2Pure4Purell @Kheapathic Hiding in China... ? You'd have to pretend to agree with the CCP for your whole time there.

@Mamako @josh @2Pure4Purell @Kheapathic That's because I don't deny the holocaust happened, retard. Still irrelevant, people do it without being disappeared, tortured and their organs sold. And still doesn't go anywhere near as broad as disagreeing with the government in any fucking way.
But hey, I can't expect people with an IQ in the minus of being able to understand reality. Go live in China as you strongly believe in your rights, and they'll all be protected there! I'll wait any day now. Be sure to let us know how it goes.

@Mamako @josh @2Pure4Purell @Kheapathic ... Yeah, people do it and don't get disappeared, tortured and their organs sold. So what's your point, retard?
Go to China. And criticise the government. In literally any fucking way. Are you really so smallbrained that you can't see how much broader that is than just denying a historical event?
You don't live in China, do you? Sounds like you're a pussy who pretends to believe something and then doesn't live up to it. :)

@Zygnus @DisasterHighway @Mamako @2Pure4Purell @Kheapathic Xi's focus has always been party unity before pretty much anything else. He had a difficulty childhood and saw his own father purged and himself banished to a commune farm. So, he's had two specific agendas: 1) Party unity above all else, and 2) elevating the nongs out of poverty. This balance is why he's so powerful. Everyone in the party stays on his good side, and he has popular assent to do whatever he wants because every year another million people are brought out of poverty by the incredible economic growth that the Chinese have seen in the last few decades.
A strong nation is always formed by three successive and long lived leaders. Mao, Deng, and Xi will probably be those people for China. However, once he retires or dies, there will be a powergap, and historically, the 4th leader in this sequence sucks and ruins everything.

@DisasterHighway @Mamako @josh @2Pure4Purell @Kheapathic I've lived in China (my wife is Chinese), as well as the US (I'm half American) and a few European countries, so I can offer some perspective on this.
About 10 years ago, when I was living in China, it was hands down the best place to live. As long as you stayed away from politics, you had the biggest amount of freedom in your day to day life than any other Western country. And staying out of politics is a very easy sacrifice to make - it's a pointless waste of time anyway.
Things have obviously gotten much worse over the last years with Xi Jinping and his Covid policies, which have ended up turning large portions of the population against the CCP. I do believe the seeds have been sown for a big political change in China, which I think will happen particularly once Xi's generation dies off - the generation that grew up under Mao - and is replaced by the newer generation that has grown up under rampant consumerism and much broader perspectives on the world.
