   @colinsmatt11 @dave @Zerglingman It's a food product, buying specialized equipment to help improve the quality of it is understandable. It's not much different than buying a fancy toaster, rice cooker, etc.

     @Zerglingman I can see that, but the evidence indicates that coffee is health neutral, potentially even mildly beneficial, unless you are drinking way more of it than most people.

     Keep in mind, we’re talking about black coffee here. Once you start adding in sugar, then not so much, but that would be because of the sugar, not because of the coffee.

     @dave @Zerglingman Anything other than water being health neutral is questionable at best.
     
     And considering what I have seen coffee consumers do, it's only marginally better than alcohol.
     
     Buying special equipment for one thing that you aren't using for a business is definitely an addiction or a stupid hobby.
