Even by that time, some people were complaining about the constitution. Spooner mentioned at the very start:
"The Constitution has no inherent authority or obligation. It has no authority or
obligation at all, unless as a contract between man and man"
It complains about every single item which is not related to human relationships like taxation, police, special protections for politicians... etc.
