   You know your daft uncle who can make a machine work 20 years past its intended lifespan because they understand the how of it and don't mind monkeying about to make the wrong parts work "well enough"?

   In 10 years that's going to be us, except instead of making the slightly-wrong AC brushless motor work with that blender we're going to have to all write glue logic to keep "perfectly good" IoT crapware functional after the companies that produced it went under.

     @silverwizard Currently juggling in my head whether it's time to join the 1080p era and buy a new TV or if I should repair the 720p nonsense machine since "all that's wrong with it is want of a remote, the backlight starting to act sluggishly, and from the sound a cap either gone or getting ready to go"
