@groovemd @h5e You do see an echo of that idea in Japanese, where you don't use the words for "this" and "that" when referring to people, but rather the pronouns for "this way" and "that way".

GrooveMD, Queer Karaoke Bard (groovemd@tech.lgbt)'s status on Saturday, 14-Jan-2023 15:37:29 JST GrooveMD, Queer Karaoke Bard @h5e I'm starting to think that pronouns–other than I, You, or They forms–aren't really appropriate for living creatures. Certainly not any that carry a connotation of gender or social role. But I'm not sure what to use instead. A positional form of "-self" comes to mind for third person uses: hereself, thereself, thoseselves... Dunno.

Hanneke 🐣 (h5e@tech.lgbt)'s status on Saturday, 14-Jan-2023 15:37:35 JST Hanneke 🐣 I do appreciate neo/fantasy pronouns because yay self expression, but also I absolutely do not understand them at all.
And I hate that I think about finding some articles about that at time that I really shouldn’t (I should go to bed instead) and that I will probably forget until some other unpractical time.
