   Rep. Kelly Morrison (D-MN) managed to conduct an oversight visit to the Whipple #ICE facility in #Minneapolis and has reported on the appalling conditions she saw.

   At protests at our ICE facility, detainees have told us by phone that when ICE even allows a member of Congress inside as they are legally obligated to do, they force the detainees to clean up the evidence of their own inhumane detention conditions.

   So whatever Rep. Morrison saw, reality is even worse.

   This kinda bolsters a cynical theory of mine that in modern times, wars occur when the military wants to test new equipment under battlefield conditions.

   So yeah, I’m saying the military cudda talked crazypants outta this — but they wanted to try their new toy.

   @clacke @cujobyte Improved health care and living conditions within a person's lifetime can substantially improve their life expectancy if they survive that long.

   At day one a UK 1940s baby boy has around 66 years of expected lifespan on average, but that's not uniform throughout their lifespan. Death is more probable as an infant, in early childhood, later teenage years, or (for women) in childbirth. Your personal expectancy will go up over time because you've reached a particular age, assuming no notable chronic health conditions.

   So, no, they absolutely do not 'get six years'.
