@snacks @kaia The implementation Windows uses is still proprietary. Mono (.Net and C#) is fully open-source, as is ASP.Net (Core). Both open-source implementations aren't in full feature parity with Windows though. (In an effort to keep Windows Server at least somewhat relevant).

After what seems like forever, the new bank approved my online banking account.
I still intend to replace them. Among other reasons, the transfer process was bungled and their customer support staff is far understaffed (average wait time for a call: 1 hour, 30 minutes ... before you speak to a human). But also, they seem to be using a 3rd party for some of their online banking functions and I have serious qualms about that company's security practices.
(And I note that ASP.Net / .aspx is _not_ the reason for my qualms. As far as I know, there are no inherent security issues that come from using .aspx to do your site. This is all idiotic decisions that some human made.)
