Biden calls for ‘immediate ceasefire’ in Gaza

Joe Biden has called for an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza, telling Benjamin Netanyahu that future US support for Israel will depend on it taking concrete action to protect civilians and aid workers.

As the two leaders held their first phone call since Israeli airstrikes killed seven employees of the international food charity World Central Kitchen (WCK), Biden issued the strongest US rebuke toward Israel since the start of the conflict.

In Thursday’s call, which lasted less than 30 minutes, the US president “made clear the need for Israel to announce and implement a series of specific, concrete and measurable steps to address civilian harm, humanitarian suffering and the safety of aid workers”, the White House said in a statement.

“He made clear that US policy with respect to Gaza will be determined by our assessment of Israel’s immediate action on these steps.”https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/04/israel-us-gaza-joe-biden-benjamin-netanyahu-phone-call?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

I'm trying not to laugh at how bad this logic is...to be consistent, conservatism isn't an ideology, because the people exist. Right? ?

Here is where I suspect the most productive portion of this discussion may lie: where in this article is it demonstrated that right wing personalities in the #USA are driving the deaths of trans people? I don't even see much here that indicates the heteronormative ideologies are even a driving factor behind these deaths, I'm not seeing any statistics here that points to any proportional motives.

The closest it gets is when it posits this:

    > The report notes that the numbers indicate a worrying trend when it comes to the intersections of misogyny, racism, xenophobia, and hate towards sex workers.

    Presumably supported by this:

    > It found that most victims were Black and migrant trans women of colour and trans sex workers.

    As well as this:

    > Over half (58%) of those murdered were sex workers, and four in ten were European migrants (43%).

Which is certainly strong circumstantial indication that these trans individuals were killed for being sex workers, but there aren't enough statistics here that back this up, nor verified motives.
