A YouTube comment: A good litmus test when trying to decide if something is a good idea can often be to ask "What if everyone did this, then what?" In this case, a better question is "What if 1/2 of everyone did this?" This being residential solar with full net metering. This past month was my first month with an 8.5 kw solar on my roof, all face due south, zero shade, no batteries. My electric bill came due a few days ago. $0.00. In my state not only do we have 1 for 1 net metering, I will get a quarterly check on top of that of a couple hundred dollars due to some other state sponsored program. I use the grid on days when the panels are covered in snow. I use the grid from 5 PM to 8 AM. And I will no longer contribute to its upkeep. If 1/2 of all customers did this.... I was proudly showing screenshots of my $0.00 bill to friends and family this weekend. Um, this video has given me pause.
