   @crabmusket For example I heard some rumblings recently that the European Union is exploring the possibility of a new competitor to Star Link (which someone very wise called "FashNet").

   US monopolies have got to go.

   It's not just tech, it's practically everything. Take medicine for example.

   Even in countries with universal healthcare, they are still using a lot of licensed American drugs that still cost a lot of money. Perhaps European and Asian markets may now produce cheaper, generic drugs.

   I do think that public broadcast of content makes sense to some degree, but trying to make the "global context collapse firehose" healthy doesn't feel, to me, where efforts should go.

   It's fine for people to keep working on it, but I'm more interested in contextual communication, public and private

   @grimalkina @writeblankspace ... is to demonstrate that these conditions (whatever you put under the umbrella) are part of the "normal" range of brain function variations, and creating a system that traumatizes people (with a subset of characteristics) is the thing that needs to go.

   It should follow that putting yourself into a pathologizing box isn't really compatible with such advocacy. It is identity politics more than anything, which can help/hinder advocacy .

   The Uncle Sam-as-a-cop figure is another Keppler (natch), and he's a regular in my collages - I can make him stand in for any federal agency by putting its logo on his chest, where a badge would go.

   If COVID has taught us anything, it's that people should be wearing masks in all healthcare settings, COVID or not.

   In addition, if you're coughing or experiencing any other symptoms and can't stay home, please ensure you wear a mask wherever you go.

   It doesn't matter if it's COVID or not, it's a matter of respect to try to do everything within your power to not expose others to whatever you may have.

   #AcademicVenting Well, we all submitted our "Individual Assessment Forms" last Wednesday. Now looks like ALL cuts in my department will be made at my level, Senior Lecturer; 3 out 5 of us are supposed to go.

   It is absolutely INSANE how all this is unfolding; the kinds of people who are in charge of all this. We are supposed to hear on Friday who it will be.
